Our Heart for International Impact

In response to Christ’s directive to spread His Good News around the world, we use a multi-faceted approach in helping reach today’s world. Our church takes a servant approach in equipping and supporting various indigenous (local) ministries that have proven effective in their own culture. We do encourage members to serve abroad, and we also seek to involve our church in projects to communicate the Gospel and share our resources worldwide.

In all our External Focus work (including internationally) we have two major goals: truly helping those we serve, and letting God impact us as we go!

Help that Helps

Internationally, Watermark Church partners with trusted indigenous (local) ministries to meet basic needs, educate, train leaders, and more. We know that local ministries usually know best what’s needed for their countries and communities - and how to get things done well. So Watermark doesn’t need to “reinvent the wheel” by launching new ministry work. Nor do we want to use our resources simply to take exciting trips or give large donations. Instead, we use our people and resources to help trusted ministries accomplish their aims.

We also believe deeply in providing long-term help, not simply momentary relief. While we recognize that relief work plays an important role in serving people worldwide, we also want to help develop long-term solutions to the issues facing the communities we impact.

Further, we recognize that the deepest need of anyone – whether across oceans or in our own backyard – is to know Christ and grow in Him. We want to share the Good News alongside our good works, in hopes of helping meet those spiritual needs.

Involvement that Changes Us

As our members prepare for and participate in Discipleship Trips and other efforts, they develop a heart for those they serve… while growing deeper in their own relationship with Christ. As you may have noticed, we even avoid the term “Mission Trip,” instead reminding ourselves that our Discipleship Trips are truly about experiencing the Lord as we follow Him into foreign lands.
