Awesome, I’m so glad you’re doing this. I’m a Watermark member and refugee mentor through the IRC, and work with a family from Myanmar teaching them English. The needs are immense, and I long for more Watermark folks to see how many people from the nations of the world are living in their own backyard as the “aliens and strangers” who we are called to welcome and bless.

I hope you get some great volunteers to teach those kids! If you teach the kids and transform their lives, they can go home and be a witness to their non-English speaking parents

My community group and I are looking for some consistent areas to serve – perhaps twice/three times a month during the evening or weekends. Anyone have any ideas of where we might be used? There’s seven of us and all are willing to work in any capacity. Thanks.

Great insight. Loved the movie. Highly recommend the book! Thanks Jeff for your perspective. It certainly should challenge us all to look around our “Jerusalem” for opportunity to come alongside and serve.

My hesitance about the movie is that it plays on the stereotype of the white world reaching out to down-and-out blacks. I don’t think that’s healthy to perpetuate – do you think the movie dealt well with that problem?
