HOW DID YOU GET INTO A MORMON OUTREACH MINISTRY?

I grew up in Southern California. When I was a kid, some Mormon missionaries came to the door of our house, and my mom spoke with them briefly. I was fascinated by them and after they left, I asked my mom about the difference between our beliefs as Christians and the Mormons. She explained that Mormons believed you could get into heaven through your own good work. After hearing this, I raced out the door. I wanted to tell those guys that it wasn’t true—that it was our faith in Christ alone that saves us.SivulkaBlogShotFinal (more…)

When Denise Renken married in ’78, she thought it would last forever. But the relationship crumbled under financial stress and infidelity just four years later. Denise remarried in ’83, certain it would be different. But past hurts and her husband’s extramarital affairs led to divorce in 2000. The man Denise married in ’01 was radically different from previous marriages. He loved the Lord and eagerly invested in the health of their marriage. Which is astonishing knowing Denise’s husband, David, is the same man she divorced twice and married three times.20090815_Renken_0160_SecondaryCrop (more…)

Kim Scheidegger:
I was part of the second of two teams from Watermark who traveled to Ethiopia and went from village to village sharing Christ with the people there. We worked with E3 Partners, a ministry that mobilizes North American churches to partner with churches around the world. E3 provided us with translators and ‘disciple makers’ – Christians living in villages across Ethiopia who follow up with local people who’ve trusted in Christ and help disciple them. The disciple maker on our team was named Solomon, and the way the Lord used his presence to bless our team is something I’ll remember forever. Kim_Scheidegger (more…)

From Mourning to Joy

Traci HughesThe reality of my circumstances hit home one day when I received a package of Extra Care gum in the mail from a friend. She wrote ‘I don’t know what to say but wanted you to know how much I care.’ And that summed it up. No one knew what to do with me. My loss was so complete and devastating that even the folks who normally could comfort me with Scripture or encouraging words didn’t even know what to say.” (more…)
